How to Clean WhatsApp Media
Delete by Chat
In the Manage Storage screen, tap any chat to see all media shared there. Select individual files or tap "Select All" to bulk-delete. Be careful — deleted media cannot be recovered from WhatsApp once removed.
Delete Forwarded Media
WhatsApp marks media that was forwarded to you. These are often memes and viral videos you didn't specifically want to keep. Filter by "Forwarded" in Manage Storage to find these quickly.
Turn Off Auto-Download
Go to Settings → Storage and Data → Media Auto-Download and set videos to "Never" or limit to Wi-Fi only. This is the best long-term fix.
WhatsApp Backup Storage
WhatsApp creates a local backup stored in WhatsApp/Databases. If you have Google Drive backup enabled, you can safely delete old local backups older than 2 days.
